COUNSELORS
Brooke Brody, LCSW-C, LCADC

Brooke is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Maryland, and also a licensed clinical drug and alcohol counselor. He received his master's degree in social work from West Virginia University. His areas of specialization have been in the area of therapy with adolescents and young adults and their families, substance abuse treatment, advocacy for students with learning differences, and treatment of mood disorders. Brooke has worked with wilderness therapy programs out west as well as residential therapeutic programs for adolescents. He has also worked in Montgomery County, MD for several years as a clinical social worker with adjudicated and homeless youth. He has post-graduate training in numerous areas that affect the treatment of adolescents and young adults including: training in the assessment of learning differences (with Dr. Mel Levine and the All Kinds of Minds Institute); relapse prevention therapy (with Terrance Gorski and the Gorski CENAPS program); brief hypnotic psychotherapy (with the Milton Erikson Institute). Brooke is an avid hiker and photographer, and combines these two pursuits on regular excursions to national parks and wilderness areas.

Pauliann Long, LCSW-C

Pauliann Long is a licensed clinical social worker with years of experience working with adolescents and families in the Washington, DC metro area. She has a master's degree in Social Work from Howard University and graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a BA in government. Pauliann brings to Potomac Pathways her extensive experience with at-risk teens in the assessment and treatment of mood and behavioral disorders, trauma, sexual abuse, learning differences and substance abuse. In addition, Pauliann is skilled in addressing family systems issues, including divorce, remarriage, blended families and parenting concerns. Pauliann helps families develop emotional literacy and communication skills, drawing on her certification as a PAIRS instructor (Practical Application of Intimate Relationship Skills), which uses dialogue-based exercises to develop empathy and understanding as a way of creating stronger relationships. Pauliann has other specialized training in Brief Strategic Family Therapy, attachment theory, substance abuse treatment, trauma treatment, and mind body healing. She also draws on her years of experience in parenting and co-parenting, and her practice of yoga and meditation. Pauliann is the founder of Inner Passages, a private therapy practice in Gaithersburg, MD.

Ani Miranda Coates

Ani Miranda Coates has worked for years with teens and families in crisis intervention services. She has worked in Australia and New Zealand counseling victims of sexual assault, working with youth in recovery from substance abuse, and working with foster care and adoption services with families. In addition, Ani Miranda has worked with the native Aboriginal people of Australia in substance abuse treatment and advocacy in the Alice Springs program. In addition to an extensive backround with teens and families, Ani Miranda also has training in holisitic health modalities including Shiatsu, and iridology. Ani Miranda is an ordained renunciate in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and leads meditation workshops for people in recovery.
