North Captiva Island, Florida
December 27, 2018 - January 1, 2019
Join us for an awesome 5 days on the Gulf Coast of Florida!
It's our second trip to North Captiva Island, off the coast from Ft. Meyers, FL. North Captiva Island is a remote, but high-end, destination. White sand beaches, wildlife walks, tennis courts, para-sailing, fun, fun, fun-- and recovery, recovery, recovery! That's right-- we build into the trip recovery circles to support your ongoing recovery! At the end of the week you'll feel relaxed, energized, motivated, and strengthened in your recovery.
North Captiva Island is a special place. No cars. You have to take a boat to get there from the mainland. We have our own awesome, fully equipped, beach house! The most stressful part of the trip is having to decide whether we're going to hang out on the beach or by the pool. On one of the days we'll take a boat ride over to Captiva Island proper, and spend an afternoon parasailing. That's where you're attached to a parachute, towed behind a speedboat, and you float 1000 ft. up in the air. If you haven't done this before-- it's a must.
We'll also take a boat up to explore Cayo Costa State Park, which is another remote island, just north of our island. All-in-all-- this trip is a great way to shift from the schoolyear into summertime mode-- in the company of clean and sober kids like yourself. Congratulations on that, by the way-- accomplishing all that clean time!
The cost of the trip is $699.00, which includes round-trip airfare, meals, lodging, and the ocean. We don't have to pay extra for the ocean, because it's already there. And, omg, the beaches are spectacular! And, because this is a private, remote island with no car access-- there will be practically no one on the beaches except us! The water is crystal-clear turquoise blue. We will mostly be cooking our own meals throughout. Kids get to help cook and clean up as well. Independent living skills get some practice during this trip. Chris Peckham, LCPC is leading the trip, accompanied by other licensed staff and peer mentors.

Or, just go ahead and pay for the trip. As soon as you make a deposit or full payment, you're registered, and your spot is reserved. The payment portal allows you to pay for the full trip now, or make a deposit of ($250), or to pay the difference between the deposit amount and the full cost. Just take your pick from the drop-down box with the payment amount. Whichever you decide to choose to do now, any deposit will be refundable up to 21 days before the trip date (after that, the funds will be committed for lodging and airfare etc., so no refund will be available for the deposit). If you pay the full amount now, it will be fully refundable up to 21 days before the trip date, and then all but $500 will be refundable until 14 days before the trip. Full payment is needed by June 4th, which is 14 days before the departure date.

I strongly recommend that you purchase insurance for the trip at worldnomads.com. World Nomads is trip insurance for outdoor adventure trips. They cover parasailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, theft of gear etc.-- all the kinds of things that ordinary trip insurance doesn't cover. Including emergency medical and emergency evacuation. The basic coverage is $74 for the duration.
Our House: It's 500 ft. from the beach. Comes with two golf carts to drive around. This year's house also comes with it's own pool and hot tub. But don't worry-- we can still use the clubhouse pool, tennis courts, etc. Guaranteed to be even better than last year's trip!
